Pure | Fresh | Local

Welcome to Shimizu Farms.

We are a small, family-owned hydroponic farm in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Our focus is growing fresh greens and herbs for local customers using sustainable and safe agricultural methods.

Who We Are

Shimizu Farms is a hydroponic farm in Northwest Arkansas. We have successfully grown herbs and lettuce indoors since July 2019.  Our mission is selling fresh herbs and leafy greens year-round to wholesale customers (restaurants, grocery stores, food distributors, hotels, schools) as well as retail sales at farmers’ markets.

Our focus will be selling to restaurants, retail grocery stores, and food distributors to provide a consistently high-quality product year-round.  Our primary crops are herbs and lettuce, which are in high demand in large quantities across multiple markets.  Our lettuce varieties are red oakleaf, green oakleaf, red butter, and green butter.  Our expanding catalogue of herbs currently includes basil and mint.

We strive to keep our harvests regular and predictable. It takes between 6 and 10 weeks to grow crops from seed to sale-ready, and we keep our cycles of planting and harvesting coordinated to provide consistent harvest intervals to meet the needs of our customers.

Shimizu Farms is a Limited Liability Company (LLC) established in Arkansas with Shino Welch as the owner. Shino is passionate about healthy foods.  Shino’s husband, David, runs the business operations. They have successfully grown herbs and lettuce in an indoor grow room since July 2019.

Shino and David have lived in the Northwest Arkansas (NWA) area since 2015. Shino currently works with students with disabilities.  She graduated with a Master’s degree in May 2023.  David has experience with other startup businesses and LLCs in real estate, property management, and professional consulting services.  David performs the managerial and sales duties for operating the business.

Shimizu is an agricultural city under the shadow of Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Its name means “pure water”.  We feel like this is a perfect namesake for a hydroponic farm amidst the natural beauty of Pea Ridge, Arkansas.
